Explore the origins of modern management and why its core ideas still shape how we work today.

This is the first part of 3 in this series. Be prepared, grab a cup of coffee, and let’s do it.

You’ve probably noticed it too…

Everything in management feels like it’s changing fast.

AI helps us make decisions.
Teams are stretched across countries and time zones.

Every few months, there’s a new framework.
A new model. A new metric.

It’s louder, faster, more digital, more data-driven.

But here’s the strange part: When I talk to other managers — honest, no-filter conversations — we’re still stuck on the same things.

How do I get my team to focus?
How do I deal with pressure from above and chaos below?
How do I make good decisions when nothing feels stable?

Same questions. Same struggles. Just more noise around them.

It makes me wonder: what exactly have we changed? Names? Roles? Calling fancy things without changing how we do the work?
