The Real Reason Agile Fails

When Agile doesn’t work, people say things like “Agile isn’t a good fit for us” or “Agile failed in our organization.”

But most of the time, Agile didn’t fail.
We failed to understand it.

We wanted the benefits without the mindset.
The outcomes without the culture.
The speed without the trust.

So we took something lightweight and flexible, and we turned it into another rigid system. We added roles, rules, rituals, and reports. We tried to measure creativity with velocity charts.

We swapped real collaboration for standup scripts. And then we wondered why teams felt burned out and disconnected.

If Agile isn’t working, don’t blame the manifesto. Blame the mirror.
